Srinagar: Two drug peddlers were arrested in different operations in Srinagar and Ganderbal.

A police spokesman in a statement said that one person identified as Mohammad Rafiq Mir son of Abdul Rashid resident of Bahrampora Rafiabad was arrested for drug supply offences and has been taken to Police Post Bagiyas where he remains in custody.

“A checkpoint was established at Guzarbal Chowk which halted a truck bearing Registration No. JK05G 1424 and seized 210 bottles of codeine phosphate and 720 capsules of Spasmoproxyvon  from the possession of the accused person,” said the spokesman.

In this regard, a case FIR No 72/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Safa Kadal and investigation has been taken up, he added.

Another person, identified as Hilal Ahmad Tiploo son of Khazar Mohammad resident of Dawood Colony, Soura was arrested for drug supply offences and has been taken to Police Post Nagbal where he remains in custody, police spokesman said.

He said that a checkpoint was established at Pandach which seized contraband substance including Charas Ghooti, Cannabis powder, Clonazepam, Alprazolam and cash  Rs. 11085  from the possession of the accused person.

“In this regard, a case FIR No 110/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Ganderbal and investigation has been taken up,” he added.
