Pulwama, May 20: Even though six years have passed since the construction work of Government Animal Husbandry building began in Tral area of south Kashmir, the building is yet to be made functional.

According to locals, the construction work was started in 2013 under National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) by Roads & buildings department (R&B) and continued for two years till 2015 after which the work was stopped. “Due to the delay in work, we are facing inconvenience and it has left the cattle breeders in lurch,” they said.

Residents further said that during the time of disease outbreak, they face huge problems as the department lacks infrastructure and other facilities.

“The department once made functional can cater to breeders from almost 76 villages around Tral,” said a local resident.

A senior doctor in animal husbandry Tral said that as a sub-district level they must have better infrastructure. “Many issues will be resolved, once the work of new building is completed,” he believes.

When contacted a top official of the Animal Husbandry department said that due to non-availability of funds, the work was stopped in 2015.
