Srinagar, May 19: Unidentified gunmen on Sunday evening shot at and injured an activist of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Zungalpora village of Kulgam district in south Kashmir.

According to the news agency GNS, masked gunmen fired upon Mohammad Jamal (65), son of Mohammad Ismail outside his home, leaving him injured.

Jamal, it said, was rushed to District Hospital Kulgam for treatment.

Medical Superintendent District Hospital Kulgam Dr Muzafar Zargar said that Jamal has received multiple bullet injuries and after being treated upon at the facility he was referred to SKIMS Soura in critical condition.

However, some unconfirmed reports suggested that the victim died.

A senior police officer said: “Police have taken the cognizance and investigations are on.”
