Jammu: A Kashmir Administrative Services (KAS) officer was found hanging from the ceiling in his apartment in Jammu on Tuesday evening, police said.

A 2004 batch KAS officer, Sushil Atri, was the deputy director of Integrated Child Development Services and he lived in Ansal Apartments in Sainik Colony area, they said.

After getting information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body. It has been sent for post-mortem, they said.

According to preliminary investigation, it is a case of suicide. Further investigation is underway, an officer said.

Meanwhile, KAS officers’ Association has expressed grief and shock over the sad demise of Sushil Kumar Attri, KAS officer of 2004 batch.

In a condolence meeting convened by its President Tasaduq Hussain Mir today in civil Secretariat, the office bearers of the Association and various other officers present expressed shock over the tragic demise of their colleague. The officers prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and forbearance to the bereaved family at this hour of grief, the spokesman in a statement said.
