SRINAGAR, MAY 15: A one-day training program was conducted by Child Nodal Centre (CNC) of Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences (IMHANS) at Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) Hospital here today.

The program was carried out in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar with the support of UNICEF under Mental Health and Psycho-Social Support (MHPSS).

The workshop was aimed at sensitizing the Para-legal Volunteers associated with DLSA regarding the Rights of children and mental health care. Para-legal Volunteers’ role in the community with regard to sensitization and rehabilitation of persons with mental illness was discussed during the workshop.

Earlier, Head of Department, IMHANS, Mohammad Maqbool Dar, welcomed the participants and also presided over the session.

Secretary DLSA Srinagar, Adnan Sayeed deliberated on the importance of mental health and the role of Para-legal volunteers in advocating the protection and promotion of mental health rights of people suffering from various mental health ailments. Adil Fayaz Wadoo, Coordinator CNC gave an overview of the functioning, objectives and services provided by the Child Nodal Center. Lawyer CNC Syed Mujtaba, facilitated the training workshop and deliberated on Mental Health Care Act, 2017.

The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks to all the participants for their active participation in the program.
