Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)  senior leader Mohammad Sartaj Madni on Tuesday pitched for the introduction of the law wherein in rape cases no relaxation in punishment is given to a culprit even if he is a minor.

Madni said that  the Bandipora episode has shocked the entire nation and such gruesome incident should make us all ponder over what as a nation is our responsibility to stop the villainous elements of the society from committing such  heinous crimes.

He added that there should be a law introduced in the state by virtue of which the culprits behind such shameful acts are given stern punishment even if they are minors as per the laid down norms.

He said that anyone committing such a heinous crime shouldn’t be freed only because his is a minor as such a practice is making the crime viral in our society.

Madni said there are scores of the similar incidents being witnessed in Kashmir every now and then and most of the families do not report the incident as same still are considered as societal taboos.

He demanded that the probe in Bandipora case should be expedited so that the brewing anger in valley is pacified.
