GDC Anantnag holds awareness workshop on PMSSS

ANANTNAG, MAY 10: A day-long awareness workshop on Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS) for students of the state was organized at the Government Degree College Anantnag today.

The PMSSS is aimed to facilitate students of J&K with access to quality education and equip them with knowledge, skills, experience and training for higher academic level and profession.

Special Secretary, Higher Education Department, Chaudhary Rashid Azam Inqilabi inaugurated the workshop.

On the occasion, Dr. Ajeet Angral, Consultant JK PMSSS, gave a presentation to point out the mission, vision, objective, eligibility, reservation, distribution of scholarship, scope, selection procedure, duration of scholarship its renewal, implementation and monitoring.

As many as 5000 fresh scholarships are offered every year, for studying in best academic institutions outside J&K in General, Engineering and Medical/BDS or equivalent Medical Streams under the scholarship scheme.

The consultant JK PMSSS said applicants need to do the registration process online on AICTE Portal and need to be State Subject (domicile) of J&K State with family income not exceeding than Rs 8 lakh per annum.

R K Ganju, Assistant Director AICTE, deliberated on various aspects and the new modifications made in the scheme for the year 2019-20.

On the occasion, the Special Secretary shared his valuable information with participating students and advised the aspirants to select the courses as per their aptitude and capabilities.

Earlier, Principal host College Prof. Bashir Ahmad Rather welcomed the participants and visiting dignitaries.

Deputy CEO Anantnag, Fayaz Ahmad along with the Principals and students of various Higher Secondary Schools also participated in the workshop.
