JAMMU, MAY 09: Directorate of Ecology, Environment and Remote Sensing today organized a Green March here at MansarLake to mark the celebration of World Migratory Birds Day.

This year’s theme is “Protect Birds: Be the solution to plastic pollution”.

Over 100 students of Govt High School Kakrai, Majalta along with the faculty participated in the Green March around Mansar Lake. In sync with the theme, participants took pledge to reduce use of plastics in their lives. Alternates to plastic were discussed and Eco friendly material was distributed among the students and staff of the school.

Environmental Soil Conservationist, Jammu (DEE&RS) Kuldeep Kumar, highlighted the need for addressing plastic pollution and its negative effects on migratory birds.

The School Management acknowledged the efforts of the Directorate of Environment and Remote Sensing for spreading the environmental awareness among the masses.
