Srinagar, May 04: BJP’s candidate for Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency, Khalid Jehangir on Saturday lashed out Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti for “misleading” the common masses.

In a statement issued here, Jehangir said that Mehbooba is telling “blatant lies” by claiming that she was unaware about Hizbul-Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani being caught in an encounter in which he was killed.

“It seems that she has forgotten that as the chief minister she was head of the Unified Command and all the anti-militancy operations were carried out after her nod,” he added.

The BJP leader said that the much hyped “Agenda of Alliance” was nothing as none of the leaders from either BJP or the PDP had signed it.

“Let Mehbooba tell people who had signed the AoA? When PDP entered into an alliance with BJP in 2015 it staged dramas to hoodwink the people. The BJP had joined hands with the PDP on only one agenda — that was development and nothing else!” he added.

Jehangir said that PDP leaders after coming to power used to give one statement in New Delhi and another in Kashmir. “BJP-led government at the centre went out of way to support the PDP. The Government of India provided all the support to the PDP, but the party (PDP) opted to play politics and did not concentrate on the development,” he added.

Jehangir said that BJP would continue to follow Vajpayee’s line of ‘Insaniyat, Jamhooriyat and Kashmiriyat’. “Our party believes in politics of development and not deceit. Mehbooba should stop misleading people and tell people the truth. People are fed up with her lies and propaganda,” he added.
