Int’l Labour Day observed across Valley

Srinagar, May 01: A series of functions were held across Kashmir division today to observe International Labour Day.

At Baramulla, a function was organized by Labour department at Sheerwani Hall, Baramulla which was presided over by the District Development Commissioner Baramulla  Dr. G.N. Itoo.

The function was attended by ACD, Baramulla, Assistant Labor Commissioner (ALC), Baramulla, Chief Executive Officer MCB, Chairman Human Aid Society, Officers of various functionaries, representatives of various Trade Unions and a good number of Labour Community.

Speaking on the occasion, the DDC while highlighting the importance of Labour Day, lauded the role of labourers for their hard work. He said the issues of the laborers need to be considered on priority.

At Anantnag, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Anantnag organized a function to celebrate “International Labour Day”.

During the function, scores of organised and unorganised labourers were provided information regarding various welfare schemes and programmes launched by government for them, besides apprising them about the legal assistance available at district level.

On the occasion Secretary DLSA Anantnag, Rafia Hassan Khaki shared information regarding important provisions of various labour regulations.

The Presidents of different Labour Unions also spoke on the occasion about the difficulties and problems faced by them.

In Shopian various activities and programs were organised at various places of the district by the office of Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC) Shopian to commemorate the day.

While interacting with workers he advised them to register their grievances and complaints in labour department.

In Kupwara a function was organized by  Labour department  at  Ashpora Kupwara.

Speaking on the occasion, the ALC Kupwara  Arshad Qadir Bhat, highlighted various schemes being implemented for the benefit of workers  in the district.

ALC Kupwara also interacted with workers and assured that the district administration will work for safeguarding interests and rights of the working community.

The function was attended by Assistant Information Officer, President of Tribal Construction and other labour union, besides a huge gathering of Labours.
