Washbugh Warriors beat Anantnag Spartans to win title

Pulwama, Apr 27:  The first edition of Saffron Premier League (SPL), a mega T-20 cricket tournament, concluded here on Saturday with Washbugh Warriors thrashing Anantnag Spartans by a huge margin of 104 runs.

After winning the toss, Washbugh Warriors elected to bat first and scored 167 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in allotted 20 overs.

For Warriors, Shakeel Ahmad played a superb innings of 58 runs and Suhaib Ahmad chipped 35 runs.

In reply, Anantnag Spartans could not withstand the bowling attack of Warriors as the team was bundled out on paltry 63 runs.

The guests present on the occasion were Dr. Imtiyaz who is associated with Doordarshan Srinagar, Abid Pathan Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association observer, Mansoor Ahmad and many others.

Shakeel Ahmad alias Shakeel lefty of Warriors was declared man of the match for his 63 runs from 38 balls and Sheeraz Ahmad Wani was declared Man of the tournament with check prize of five thousand rupees.

At the presentation ceremony, Warriors were awarded one lakh rupees and trophy, while as the Spartans were awarded fifty thousand rupees and trophy.

On the sidelines of presentation ceremony, spokesperson and one of the sponsors of SPL Pulwama, Dr Rouf, said that the first addition of one of the prestigious T20 tournaments of Kashmir valley, SPL, in which 35 teams participated from across the valley concluded successfully today.

“All the updates related to SPL were available online as the SPL management had launched its official app for the purpose,” said Dr Rouf.

Talking to Kashmir Images, the captain of Washbugh Warriors said that winning the title of SPL Pulwama was a big achievement for them. “We have defeated one of the strongest cricket teams of valley.

After receiving the trophy, the Washbugh Warriors team took out a march through main town and the women folk showered the players with candies.
