On World Veterinary Day, awareness program and free medical camp held at Sheeri

Baramulla: In a bid to create awareness and educate the public about animal health and its relationship to human health, Department of Animal Husbandry Baramulla on World Veterinary Day organized a day long awareness program cum free medial camp at block veterinary hospital Sheeri Baramulla on Saturday.

“Value of Vaccination”, is this year’s theme of World Veterinary Day which is commemorated every last Saturday of April.

Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Baramulla Dr. Abdul Rashid Wani was the chief guest.

While speaking on the occasion, experts urged people to get their animals vaccinated on time as animals carry germs and virus that are harmful to humans too and only vaccination can prevent transmission of diseases.

Chief Animal Husbandry Officer said, “If we adhere to vaccination there will be no need to treat animals with antibiotics and antimicrobial.”

The first phase of foot and mouth disease control programme was also kick started in the clinical camp and animals were examined by experts and awareness was also given to the people about various programmes  schemes run by the animal husbandry department, officials informed.
