Assured Minimum Facilities at polling booths reviewed in Leh

Leh, April 27: District Election Officer (DEO), Leh Avny Lavasa under the supervision of General Observer, Alkesh Kumar Sharma convened a meeting of all Zonal and Sectoral Magistrates to review the Assured Minimum Facilities (AMF) at all the polling booths of Leh district at DC Office conference hall, Leh today.

Addressing the meeting, General Observer expressed satisfaction over the preparedness at polling stations so far. However, he urged the Zonal and Sectoral Magistrates to re-visit their allotted polling stations and look for improvements in the creating requisite facilities under AMF at its best. He directed them to set up the polling booth and be present well in advance to ensure smooth conduct of polling process on the day of election.

He stressed upon the Zonal and Sectoral Magistrates to have a thorough knowledge and understanding of polling process so that if required they can provide assistance to the Presiding and Polling Officers as per guidelines of Election Commission of India. He also instructed them to remain vigilant of violation of MCC by any individual or political party.

DEO, Avny Lavasa informed about the departure, transportation and communication plans of the polling staff. She said that one of the major role and responsibility of Zonal and Sectoral Magistrates is to provide elections progress report from time to time without fail to the election control room in Leh on the day of polling. She assured of proper communication facilities at all the polling booths and asked to clear their doubts to be able to assist the Polling Officers.
