ACB chargesheets ADC, BDO others in corruption case

Srinagar, Apr 26: Anti-Corruption Bureau Doda produced chargeseet in a corruption case against  a former Assistant Commissioner Development, (ACD) Kishtwar Ghulam Nabi Balwan, Mohammad Yasin Mir, the then Block Development Officer (BDO) Drabshalla Kishtwar, Chet Singh, the then Jr. Assistant BDO office Drabshalla, and Khalid Hussain, a contractor.

Verification into the allegation of misappropriation of NREGA funds against non-executed works at Kishtwar had revealed that the accused public servants by abusing their officials positions had withdrawn an amount of Rs 10 lakhs and had paid the said amount to accused Khalid Hussain (contractor) for four non-executed works, ACB spokesman said.

He said a formal case was registered against them and during the investigation, it was found that the accused public servants in criminal conspiracy with the accused contractor had fabricated the official record by preparing fake muster sheets and had released the amount of Rs 10 lakhs in favour of the accused contractor against the above mentioned non-executed works, thus causing loss of Rs 10 lakhs to the state exchequer.
