Two militants gunned down in Jammu, gunfight on

Anantnag, April 25: Two militants have been killed in an encounter that raged between government forces and militants in Bijbehara town of South Kashmir Anantnag district on Thursday morning.

An official told KNO that a joint of army’s 3RR and SoG launched a cordon and search operation in Bangandar Mohalla of the Town.

He said that the cordon was launched following credible input about the presence of some militants in the area.

The official said that soon after the joint team of forces intensified the search towards the suspect spot, the militant opened indiscriminate fire which was retaliated leading to an encounter.

In exchange of fire, Two militants have been killed and search operation is still underway in the area, he added.

Dead bodies along with ammunition have been recovered and identification is being ascertained, he added.

However sources said that both are believed to be locals belonging to Hizb outfit. (KNO)
