RO Anantnag PC reviews election preparedness

ANANTNAG, APRIL 19: The Returning Officer (RO) for Anantnag Parliamentary Constituency (PC), Khalid Jahangir today convened a meeting with all Assistant Returning Officers (ARO) and Nodal Officers of district Anantnag to review the preparedness for General Elections 2019 in the constituency.

The RO during the meeting reviewed the preparedness made with regard to web costing, videography arrangements, establishment of women polling stations,  Assured Minimum Facilities for polling stations, transport plan,  GPS arrangements, establishment of model polling stations, control room and AC-wise distribution/collection centres of district Anantnag.

The RO was informed that assured minimum facilities (AMF) for polling stations with regard to power supply, furniture, water supply and other required facilities are being put in place. The ramp facilities have also been ensured at the polling stations. The meeting was also informed that webcasting will be made at 28 polling locations in the district Anantnag for which 15 modem are being purchased in consultation with the purchasing committee.

The Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) and Depot Manager State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) informed the meeting that 690 buses will be made available by SRTC and 282 Tata Sumo, 14 Trucks for carrying for polling staff, Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) and other logistics will be made available during the elections.

The RO Anantnag directed all the AROs and Nodal Officers to ensure foolproof arrangements are put in place well in time. Besides, he also directed the AROs to impart proper training to the polling staff so to ensure that no problems or issues are encountered by the staff during the poll duty. He also directed that AROs must ensure availability of basic minimum facilities at all polling stations. The RO also instructed for ensuring facilitation of voters with disabilities as per the directions of the Election Commission of India.
