Rich tributes paid to former Head and Dean Prof Akram Mir

Srinagar, April 19:  A condolence meeting was held today at School of Law, University of Kashmir during which rich tributes were paid to the former Head and Dean of Law Department KU Late Prof Akram Mir who passed away here on Tuesday.

Condolence meeting was attended by Dean School of Law,Prof. Muhammad Hussain, President KUTA Dr Muheet, Director CCAS. Prof. G.N. Khaki, General Secretary KUTA, senior faculty members of the different departments, faculty members of School of Law and hundreds of students.

Recalling the contribution of Prof Akram Mir towards University in general and Law School in particular, Dean School of Law Prof Muhammad Hussain said, as an academician Prof Akram brought the Law department of the University on the national map. He said Prof. Akram was one of the great scholars who lived a very simple life and his contribution in the field of legal studies shall be remembered for times to come.

Prof. G.N Khaki described the deceased as one of the great scholars who lived a very simple life He said as an administrator, late Prof Akram sahib shall be remembered by the University fraternity in particular and society as a whole for his reforms in legal education during his tenure as the Head and Dean. He said that the deceased used to treat all his students equally. He said he used to treat his junior colleagues very affectionately and used to address them as “Hakim”.

On the occasion, Dua e Magfirat was offered for the deceased.
