Ganderbal, Apr 9: Central University of Kashmir (CUK) Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir Tuesday inaugurated the Inter-Departmental Cricket Tournament organised by the varsity’s Department of Students Welfare Central (DSW) at Gadoora here.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir emphasized the importance of sports in the overall growth and development of the youth. He said the university would make every possible effort to encourage students’ participation in different sports activities organised at local and national level. He further said that state-of-the-art sports infrastructure would be set up at the Tulmulla Campus of the university.

Dr. Syed Zahoor Ahmad Geelani, Sports In-charge Mr. Tasleem Arif Cash and Assistant Professor, Dr. Muzamil Ahmad Shah, were present during the inaugural function.
Twenty cricket teams of different departments are participating in the T20 knockout tournament, during which one match will be played each day. The tournament is being organized to select players for the university cricket team.
