Kashmiri child athlete clinches Bronze at Int’l Tourney

Tangmarg: Ten-year-old Kickboxer, Zainab Mushtaq, from Kilwara Hariwatnoo village of Tangmarg Baramulla has won Bronze medal at Turkey in 4th International Turkish Open Kickboxing Tournament.

Zainab was representing India in Point fighting children female- 30 kg category of Kickboxing.

Zainab who was representing India in the tournament, has become first athlete from Jammu and Kashmir to win a medal for WAKO India Kickboxing Federation.

Zainab was trained by international WUSHU medalist Jabeena Akhtar

Talking to Kashmir Images, Akhtar said that the full potential in kickboxing sport is not being explored in the state due to lack of proper facilities and Infrastructure.

Father of Zainab, Mushtaq Ahmad, said that he is extremely happy with his daughter’s performance. “Zainab has made her parents proud by achieving the remarkable feat at an international event,” he added.

General Secretary WAKO Baramulla Kickboxing Federation has congratulated Zainab for her success.

Meanwhile, the administration of Hanfiya Model School Chandilora Tangmarg has also congratulated the child athlete for winning the bronze medal.

27 countries took part in 4th International Turkish Open Kickboxing Tournament with 2469 athletes participating in different categories of Kickboxing. India stood at 17 in medal tally of the event.
