BUDGAM, April 05: Several tribal villages in Arizal area of central Kashmir’s Budgam are reeling under darkness since almost a month due to official apathy.
The residents of Kharian village told Kashmir Images that they are reeling under complete darkness since last month. “The transformer had damaged due to heavy snowfall and the department is yet to repair it. We are using traditional lamps and candles during the nighttime,” they said.
The irked residents claimed that they have requested the higher authorities several times to redress the issue but to no avail.
They appealed Governor’s administration to look into the issue and threatened to boycott upcoming elections if their problems are not redressed soon.
When contacted Executive Engineer PDD Budgam, Mohammad Hussain Shah, he was busy in a meeting. ”I am busy in a meeting, will get back to you tomorrow,” he told this reporter.
