Clashes break out in Kulgam village; soldier, CRPF man injured

Srinagar: Clashes erupted in a village of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Friday after the forces reached there to arrest a local preacher.

Reports said that the locals at Paniwoha village attacked with rocks a joint team of the army and Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police after they raided the village to arrest Firdous Moulvi who has been evading arrest for past few months.

They said the forces resorted to aerial firing and tear gas shelling to disperse the protesters.

Reports said that an army soldier and a CRPF trooper were injured in the clashes.
