Srinagar, 04 April: Criticising NC vice president Omar Abdullah for making Kashmir a “political circus”, Peoples Conference Senior Vice President and former minister Abdul Gani Vakil today said the NC is responsible for all the miseries Kashmiris have gone through in the form of ‘killings, rapes and tortures.”

“Kashmir is reaping what Omar’s father and grandfather had sown over the years by surrendering the special status of the state for the lust of power,” Vakil said.

Taking a jibe over the recent remarks made by Omar Abdullah to revert positions of Sadr-e-Riyasat and Wazeer -e-Azam, Vakil reminded junior Abdullah his lineage had made bogus promises from time to time and took the masses of Jammu and Kashmir for a ride since long in lieu of power.

Addressing electoral meeting in Rafiabad, Vakil said that Omar, as BJP governments Foreign Minister, had a deal with the RSS and conveniently forgot to raise the issue when he was travelling to every national capital telling the world that Kashmir is an integral part of India and that there are no human rights violations in Kashmir.

“Omar has realised that his party’s debacle is imminent and his party is placed at where its image cannot be retrieved, so to counter that he tried to lure the masses by striking the chord of the restoration of the status of Sadr-e- Riyasat and Wazeer-e- Azam. Isn’t it true that the party you have allied with is the one which demolished the positions of Sadr-e- Riyasat and Wazeer-e- Azam?” he asked.

Vakil said that it was under the stewardship of Sheikh Abdullah in 1975 that amendment to Art. 368 of the Indian constitution was instituted which blocked the reversal of the nomenclatures, making the demotion a permanent feature of the state polity.

“By accepting the designation to the post of Chief Minister in 1975 in a stark climb down from his previous position as Wazeer-e-Azam Sheikh Abdullah endorsed the demotion and sanctified all previous erosions enacted to the Autonomy of the state”, he added.

Vakil further said that the Abdullahs’ further embarked upon a process of insidious undermining of the special status as an essential quid pro quo to hang on to power at all costs”.

“A legacy that continues to be engrained in the Abdullah’s political conduct whether as the BJP’s Deputy Foreign Minister trotting the globe endorsing New Delhi’s stance on Kashmir at the cost of denying Kashmiri aspirations or Dr Farooq Abdullah’s shameless scandals of misappropriation such as that of JKCA funds. The Abdullah dynasty will stoop to any level to barter the interests of the state – a feat repeatedly undertaken by each generation as long as it ensures their continuity in power”, he added.

Meanwhile Vakil along with senior leader Khursheed Ahmed Khan visited Braman, Mulutura, Kutru naribal, Khamuwa and Brandub villages on their election campaign.
