In Jammu PC, over 20 lakh electors to cast vote on April 11

JAMMU APRIL 03: The Jammu Parliamentary Constituency spread over 20 assembly segments of four districts of Jammu, Samba, Poonch and Rajouri will go to polls in the first phase on April 11.

According to the figures provided by the office of Chief Electoral Officer, J&K, there are total 20,00,485 voters in the PC including10,38,497 males, 9,61,960 females and 28 transgender. It includes 2986 Persons with Disability (PwD) and 293 marked as VVIP (Voter Verification and Information Programme) voters. The authorities have set up 2740 Polling Stations at 1932 locations for the smooth conduct of elections.

The Samba district with two Assembly segments   of Samba and Vijaypur has 2,04,388 electors- 1,05,597 males, 98786 females and 5 Transgender (TG).  It also includes 754 Persons with Disability (PWD) and 47 VVIP marked electors. The authorities have set up 295 polling stations at 196 locations in the district.

The Jammu district with 11 Assembly segments, has a total 10,68,245 eligible voters, of which 552577 are males, 515651 females and 17 TG voters including 2693 PwDs and 136 VVIP marked voters. For these electors, 1380 polling stations have been established at 816 locations.

The highest number of electors are registered in Gandhi Nagar AC having a total of 1,73,284 voters – 89,796 males, 83,487 females and one transgender. For this segment, 201 polling stations have been established at 84 locations.

The lowest number of voters is in Jammu-East AC having 52145 registered voters, including 26321 males and 25824 females.

The assembly segments in Jammu district are, Nagrota, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu East, Jammu West, Bishnah, R.S. Pura, Suchet Garh, Marh, Raipur-Domana, Akhnoor and Chhamb.

The border district Rajouri with 4 Assembly segments   Nowshera, Darhal, Rajouri and Kalakote with 4,20,515 voters – 2,21,067 males, 1,99,443 females and 5 transgender. It also includes 2809 PwD voters and 27 those marked as VVIPs. A total of 614 polling stations have been setup for these voters at 479 locations. Rajouri AC is the largest in the district having 1,21,987 registered voters.

With three Assembly segments (Surankote, Mendhar and Poonch Haveli), district Poonch has 3,07,337 eligible voters – 1,59,256 males, 1,48,080 females and one TG including 2986 PwD voters and 83 VVIP marked ones. The number of polling stations established in the district is 451 at 441 locations.
