ARTO office Bandipora gutted in mysterious fire incident, record reduced to ashes

Bandipora, March 23: Assistant Road Transport Office (ARTO) office Bandipora gutted in a mysterious fire incident on Saturday and official record present at the office was reduced to ashes.

Witnesses said that flames erupted from the third floor of Mini Secretariat building block C housing ARTO which consists of official record room and office of ARTO.

“We were working overnight in Media Monitoring and Media Certification Cell (MCMC) as we saw smoke and flames erupting from ARTO office. We immediately phoned fire and emergency services and concerned police station,” said an employee.

“Soon after receiving the information, a police team and officials of fire and emergency department rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control,” he added. “However, the official record and some computer system were damaged in the incident.”

A police officer also confirmed the incident and said that the fire broke out inside the ARTO office under mysterious circumstances. “The cause of fire is being ascertained and all angles would be looked into to ascertain the incident,” he said.

He said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigations have been taken up
