Leh: SVEEP awareness camps held at Sumoor, Khardong

LEH, MARCH 21: Under the supervision of District Election Officer, Leh Avny Lavasa, awareness camps under SVEEP programme were held today here at Sumoor Khardong villages.

A large number of people from Sumoor, Kyagar and other surrounding villages attended the camp and they were given information about the functioning of EVM and VV PAT through live demonstrations by the Master Trainers. The voters mainly the young voters have seen taking immense interest in operating procedure of EVM and the working of VV PAT.

Addressing the gathering, the DC highlighted the value of votes and urged for mandatorily participate in the election process and play their role with utmost responsibility in forming a good Government. She urged upon the young people to ensure their enrollment in the electoral roll on attaining the qualifying age and become a part of election process.

Avny Lavasa encouraged the people to understand the functioning of EVM and VV PAT through the awareness camps so that they can use the voting machine confidently in favour of the intended candidate.

On this occasion, the students of Higher Secondary School Sumoor presented a Skit-play highlighting the values of elections in a democratic system and the importance of using voting franchise.

The Addl. District Development Commissioner, Leh Moses Kunzang, SDM Nubra Sonam Nurboo, Joint Director Education/Nodal Officer SVEEP Tashi Dolma, Tehsildar Sumoor Sonam Chosdon and concerned officers also attended the camp.

A similar awareness camp was also held for the people of Khardong village where live demo about the operating procedure of EVM and VV PAT was given.
