The DC said the education department has an important role in the mission with schools hosting a major percentage of the target population.

He instructed the concerned departments to hold awareness camps about the programme for the information of the target population and also asked the Social Welfare department to organise nutrition mission weeks.

He said the data required for it is dynamic and instructed for undertaking fresh surveys of target population under the mission.

The meeting was informed that a district coordination committee comprising members from all concerned departments will be formed to ensure proper monitoring of implementation of the nutrition mission.

Dr Shahid also directed for preparing a calendar of screening programmes needed to be held as part of the mission.

Poshan Abhiyaan launched last year aims to reduce malnourishment in the country in a phased manner by way of adoption of a synergised and result-oriented approach.

The goals of the mission are to achieve improvement in nutritional status of children from 0-6 years, pregnant and lactating mothers in a time boundmanner during the next three years beginning 2017-18.

It also aims to ensure convergence of all nutrition-related schemes of the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) on target population.

ADC KK Sidha who is also the Project Officer ICDS Srinagar, JD Planning, CMO Srinagar, CEO Srinagar and District Social Welfare Officer Srinagar attended the meeting.
