Srinagar, March 13: Hurriyat Conference (M) Wednesday termed the notice issued to its Chairman Mirwaiz Umer Farooq by NIA as “political vendetta” saying he has nothing to do with terror funding nor will he indulge in any such activity in future as well.

Addressing media after Executive Council meeting at party headquarters in Rajbagh, senior Hurriyat (M) leader and Chairman, Peoples Independent Movement (PIM) Bilal Gani Lone alleged that “witch hunt” has been started against Mirwaiz who has always advocated dialogue to resolve Kashmir issue.

“Today’s meeting was aimed at to express solidarity with our Chairman. We want to make it clear that ours is a political forum and we have nothing to do with terror funding case nor will he (Mirwaiz) indulge in any such activity in future,” Lone said.

He said it’s very unfortunate the way terror funding is being linked with Mirwaiz who is not only a political leader but a religious head of high stature.

“Mirwaiz not only belongs to a political forum but he is a religious authority as well. If they (NIA) need some clarification, Mirwaiz is ready to cooperate. But summoning him to Delhi is unacceptable,” Lone said.

He said Mirwaiz who entered into dialogue twice with government of India is of the firm belief that dialogue is the only way-out to resolve Kashmir issue. He said Mirwaiz’s commitment towards peaceful political settlement of Kashmir has never changed.

He said Hurriyat (M) stands in solidarity with Mirwaiz will decide its future strategy as per the situation.
