Srinagar:  After fielding its teams in different national and international ski and snowboarding championships the, Winter Games Association of J&K is all set to hold its domestic activities under the aegis of J&K State Sports Council at different resorts in the state.

The All South Kashmir Districts Ski and Snowboarding championship will be held on 18th March in collaboration with Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering and WS. The athletes belonging to South Kashmir may contact JIM, Pahalgam immediately for further information. While, the All North Kashmir Districts alpine ski, nordic ski and snowboarding championship will be held at Gulmarg on 21st March. The entry forms are available at Downhill Restaurant Tangmarg, Gulmarg Ski School Hotel Pine Palace and Khan Motors, Exchange Road, Srinagar. Competitions will be held in different age groups such as born 1998, 99, 2000;  2001-02, 2003-04; 2005-06 and seniors borne before 1998. For alpine ski and snowboarding there will be slalom and Giant slalom events while for Nordic Ski there will be 10kms for women, 15Kms for men, and 1.5 km sprint. Every competitor shall have to bring their own ski equipment including skis, helmets and other protective gear.

The North Kashmir athletes will report at Ski Shop of Tourism Deptt at 9.30 am positively along with entry forms, PP size photograph, entry fee of Rs.150, date of birth certificates and advance course certificates. In the absence of these documents nobody will be allowed to take part.

The first 6 position winners in each event will be selected for State Championship to be held on 21st March. All these selected athletes will be provided lodging and boarding by the association and all others will have to go back to their respective homes. All the expenses on travelling etc are to be borne by athletes themselves during regional championships.

The dates for Ladakh Division Championship are yet to be fixed by the District Kargil WGA. The Association is also planning to hold the National Junior Championship. They have requested the State Sports Council to sponsor which is under process there.
