On the occasion, dozens of PDP workers from Budgam joined Peoples Conference, the spokesman said in a statement said.

Speaking on the occasion Rashid Mehmood expressed his concern over recent harassment of Kashmiri students and businessmen outside the state.

“Such attacks will only push people especially the youth away from mainstream. I urge New Delhi to take measures in order to prevent harassment of Kashmiris in future”, he said.

“Banning Jamaat is not the solution, it is against the political ethos. Such tactics have been tried and tested earlier too but not much has been achieved out of that. Democracy is about variety, allowing political space for all sorts of political opinions and organizations. We demand that the ban be revoked at the earliest and the muscular approach be shelved if GoI wants to see the return of peace to the Valley.

While welcoming the new entrants to PC, Dawood Lodhi criticized the successive governments of NC and PDP for neglecting Beerwah in the past and expressed hope that the people of Beerwah will vote for change in the upcoming Parliament and Assembly elections.

He urged the Governor administration to upgrade the college at Khag to Degree College saying that this has been a long pending demand of the residents.
