Pulwama, Mar 04: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) works on Monday took out a protest march here against the Central government’s recent decision to ban Jamaat-e-Islami(JeI) Jammu and Kashmir.

Scores of party workers assembled outside Deputy Commissioner (DC) Office Pulwama on Monday morning and raised slogans against what they termed as “criminalization of JeI in the state”.

The party activists were holding placards that read “revoke ban on JeI”.

Dr Samiullaha Mir, state president PDP while talking with reports said that banning JeI is undemocratic. “It is an ideology that government should not choke.”

“Jamaat has been playing a vital role in providing education to thousands of children by running hundreds of quality educational institutes and extending all necessary help to thousands of economically downtrodden people across the state,” he said, adding that instead of banning Jamaat government should start a dialogue with its constituents.
