EVM-VVPAT awareness training held at Srinagar

SRINAGAR, MARCH 01: A training-cum-awareness programme on Electronic Voting Machines and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (EVM-VVPAT) machines under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme was Friday organized at DC Office Srinagar here.

The awareness programme aimed at spreading electoral literacy amongst the voters was organized under the supervision of District Election Officer Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary.

Master trainers imparted training to participants about handling of EVM-VVPAT machines during the programme. Participants in the programme included polling staff members besides members of the media, NGOs and civil societies.

Speaking on the occasion the DEO stressed on full acquaintance with handling and operation among other aspects of the machines. He also instructed for passing the message to the general public so as to ensure maximum voter turnout in the upcoming general elections.

Concerned nodal officer threw light on the SVEEP programme during the awareness programme. The participants were urged to spread the word about toll-free helpline number 1950 and website www.nvsp.in where information can be asked.

The awareness programme also included a brainstorming session wherein different kinds of queries were raised and answered.

Similar training sessions were held at Tehsil headquarters across the district.

ADC KK Sidha was also present on the occasion.
