Budgam, Feb 28: Jammu and Kashmir Government’s claim of achieving 100 per cent household electrification in the state has fallen flat as three localities comprising of around 35 households in far flung village of the Budgam district are yet to be electrified.

These localities include Doli Mohallah, Mati Mohallah and Salam Mohallah in Sitharan village, around 35 kms from district headquarters.

The residents of un-electrified area said that when the government and district administration are claiming to have provided every basic necessity to people; they are being neglected and ignored without any reason.

Interestingly, Jammu and Kashmir government claimed to have achieved 100 per cent electrification of households in the state, last year. However, the un-electrification of Sitharan raises questions over such claims of the government.

“We approached to every concerned person about the electrification of our area, but to no avail,” said Bilal Mohiudeen. “One can’t imagine what problems we are facing.”

Meanwhile, Sitharan residents have now temporary laid wire over trees and rooftops of the houses, through which they could charge their mobile phones only.

They appealed Jammu and Kashmir Governor to intervene and direct PDD to electrify the area.

Despite repeated attempts, Executive Engineer PDD Budgam Nasrullah Jan could not be contacted.
