JAMMU, FEBRUARY 26: Divisional Commissioner, Sanjeev Verma, on Monday convened a meeting of concerned officers and other stakeholders to discuss arrangements for successful conduct of Maha Shivratri Mela to be held at Peer Kho Jammu and Shiv Khori Shrine Reasi.

The meeting was attended by Commissioner JMC, Pankaj Magotra, Joint Director Tourism, Shokat Mehmood, CMO Jammu, Dr Danish Khan, Deputy Director ULB, Virender Manyal,  besides senior functionaries of PHE, PDD, Police and members of organizing committees while Deputy Commissioner Reasi along with concerned officers attended the meeting through video conferencing.

A threadbare discussion was held with the officers of different departments and prominent people associated with the Mela.

It was informed that the Mela will commence on 3rd of March during which various cultural programmes, Dangal, Shoba Yatra and other activities will be presented and it will culminate on 6th March.

The Div Com asked the Police to deploy requisite number of security personnel at various points including main temples to facilitate pilgrims besides traffic police was asked to regulate smooth traffic flow on various routes.

The Div Com instructed the CMO for providing medical facilities at different places besides keeping available one mobile ambulance to handle any exigency. He asked the Executive Engineers PHE and PDD for providing adequate water facility and uninterrupted power supply during the Mela.

The Div Com directed JMC to provide make shift toilets besides asking the concerned for providing fire tenders and other essential commodities. He also passed directions for beautification and illumination of Temples.

The Div Com also asked the concerned to ensure strict adherence to ban on use of polythene bags in the Mela. He also had detailed discussion on other events like Dangal, cultural programmes, Shoba Yatra and other activities during the Mela.
