V K Singh takes stock of SDRF activities, reviews disaster preparedness

SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 13: The Commandant General Home Guards, Civil Defence and SDRF, V. K. Singh, today convened a meeting here to take stock of disaster preparedness and activities of SDRF, HG, and CD volunteers during the recent heavy snowfall in the Kashmir division.

The meeting was attended by Javid Hassan Bhat, Director Home Guards/ Civil Defence and SDRF Kashmir, Bashir Ahmad Sofi, Commandant SDRF 1stBn Srinagar, all Area Commandants of Home Guards and Deputy Controllers of Civil Defence in Kashmir province, besides in-charge NDRF team.

During the meeting, all the officers briefed about recent activities and rescue operations undertaken by the Organization and other volunteers during the snowfall and avalanches in the Kashmir Valley.

The Commandant General took stock of the level of preparedness of the SDRF personnel, volunteers and also the shortcomings thereof.

He appreciated the role of the SDRF, HG, CD, and NDRF during the recent rescue operations. He also briefed the officers about their role in various operations during disasters/ awareness programmes and training.

The officers apprised the Commandant General about some infra requirements necessary for smooth conduct of rescue operations and other activities. Singh assured all possible support to facilitate the operations of SDRF and other allied volunteers in carrying out their professional work.
