Infant dies at district hospital Bandipora

Bandipora, Feb 13: An infant died due to alleged negligence of the doctors at District Hospital Bandipora on Wednesday, triggering protests by her family and relatives.

Umaiya Muzaffar, three-months-old daughter of Muzaffar Ahmad Najar of Gundpora Rampora died after being administered some vaccine in absence of doctors at the hospital, the family members alleged.

“She was administered vaccine in the absence of doctors by some nurse as no doctor was available. When we left the hospital Umaiya died in the lap of her mother just outside the hospital,” they alleged.

“We have taken cognizance of the case and investigation has been taken up,” said a police official, adding that a case (FIR No 13/2019 under section 304 RPC) was registered at the concerned police station.

Meanwhile, protests were held inside the hospital premises by family members and locals, demanding strict action against the erring health officials.
