CUJ hosts VC’s meet on Academic leadership training in Higher Education

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 12:  Advisor to Governor, KK Sharma today underlined the importance of capacity building to hone the knowledge and skill of the students so that they are acquainted with the new technological and research oriented interventions and information.

The Advisor was speaking at the inaugural function of four day long Academic Leadership Training in Higher Education being organized by School of Educational Studies Central University Jammu (CUJ), under the aegis of Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers & Teaching in collaboration with Association of Indian Universities (AIU) here today. This four-day long programme shall witness deliberations on various issues pertaining to higher education.

Vice chancellors, eminent academicians attended the inaugural function. The leitmotif of this event is a thorough discussion on enhancing the quality of higher education and addressing its challenges.

The Advisor stressed on identifying deficiencies, developing skills for negotiations, making strategy and year-wise strategic plans, and monitoring key factors for addressing leadership crisis. He called upon the educators to use education for making diversity existing in our country and state as a positive and connecting factor so that holistic development is undertaken in education sector.

Prof. Furqan Qamar, Secretary General AIU, delivered the Key-note address and underlined the issues of excellence in higher education and the current state of affairs of such institutes. He also dealt upon challenges of higher education like expanding higher education system to provide higher education to all, ensuring inclusiveness in higher education and gender parity, besides promoting quality and excellence in higher education.

Prof. B. S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, spoke on “decision-making as a process”.

Prof. Ashok Aima, Vice-chancellor, CUJ, delivered his Presidential-note and emphasized on developing leadership qualities. He also gave an account of how CUJ is marching towards excellence in education.

Speakers for the next three days include Vice-Chancellors, Administrators, and Directors of various Universities and Institutions from across the Country.

Special issue of the news letter of CUJ “(campus update)” was also released on the occasion.
