Ganai inaugurates 2nd Jammu Mahotsav Golf Cup at JTGC

 JAMMU, FEBRUARY 10: Directorate of Tourism, Jammu in collaboration with Jammu Tawi Golf Course (JTGC) organized 2nd Jammu Mahotsav Golf Cup 2019 which was inaugurated by Advisor to Governo, Khurshid Ahmad Ganai.

Advisor hit the first ball to Tee Off the event. The tournament is being organized to promote Golf in Jammu and create awareness about healthy living.

Ganai appreciated the participants of the tournament and complimented Director Tourism Jammu, O P Bhagat and Secretary JTGC, Hitesh Gupta for organizing the event as part of Jammu Mahotsav. Ganai directed the Secretary JTGC to further improve the facilities being provided to the members of the Golf Course. Ganai asked the Secretary to immediately put up a proposal for the construction of a Swimming Pool as part of Health Culb of the Golf Course. Later Ganai took a briefing from the Secretary JTGC about the functioning of the Golf Course.

According to Secretary JTGC, 96 players participated in today’s tournament divided into 24 four-balls including one four-ball of children below 12 years of age and one four-ball of senior citizens above 65 years of age. The participants included members of Jammu Tawi Golf Course as well as other Golfers from across the State including one four-ball each from Army Golf Course Udhampur, Army Golf Course Nagrota, Army Golf Course Miran Sahib, BSF Golf Course Paloura.

Director Tourism Jammu gave away prizes to the winners. In senior citizen category, award for Straight Drive and the Longest Drive went to IPS Bali.

In children category, the award for the Straight Drive went to Arindam Sudan, Longest Drive to Musaad Shafat and Nearest to the Pin went to Arindam Sudan.

Overall, the awards for the Straight Drive went to Ashiq Hussain, Longest Drive to Col JP Singh, Nearest to the Pin to Dr Gurpreet Singh. Abhimanyu Beri was adjudged the overall winner and Manav Sharma was adjudged overall runners up.

The Award for player who played best amongst each four ball was also awarded winner’s trophy, those included Manav Gupta, Abhimanyu Beri, Akash Bhola, Chanderjeet Singh, Ashiq Hussain, Vivek Khajuria, Tanga Abdul Qayoom, Rahil Murtaza, IPS Bali, Azhar Mir, Umesh Gupta, Sunil Kakroo, Abhishek Chauhan, SS Pathania, Swarn Singh Jangi, Pawan Parihar, VK Mahajan, Hemant Sharma, Dr Sunil Kotwal, Cmdt VM Singh, Vineet Bhatia, Sanjay Mahajan, Arihant Bhardwaj. Amonst fourball of children, Arindam Sudan was adjudged the best player.

The JTGC Members acknowledged the efforts of Secretary JTGC for keeping the Golf Course vibrant by organizing one tournament almost every month. They urged the Secretary to make further improvements in the Golf Course by taking up pending works in JTGC.

Jammu is fast emerging as a golfing destination for tourists across northern part of the country. Jammu Tawi Golf Course is one of the most scenic and challenging golf courses located on the left bank of river Tawi, nestled in the hillocks and forests of the Shivalik Range.
