ADC conducts market checking at Baramulla

BARAMULLA, FEBRUARY 08: Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Farooq Ahmad Baba accompanied by Assistant Director Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, officer from Revenue, Metrology, Police and various other departments today conducts market checking at various locations of Baramulla town.

The checking was conducted after reports that some erring traders and shopkeepers are charging exorbitant rates in view of closure of National Highway which was closed for vehicular movement due to massive landslides.

During inspection, the checking team realized a fine of Rs 11500 on various shopkeepers for violating the legal regulations. They also destroyed contaminated vegetables and spices.

Speaking on the occasion, the ADC said that such a drive have been conducted in order to ensure the quality and price control besides keeping vigil on erring traders. He said that such drives will be conducted on routine basis so that quality of commodities is ensured. Meanwhile, he urged traders not to violate the rules and directed for displaying the rate lists at their respective trade centres.

Moreover, the ADC also warned the vendors not to encroach the footpaths failing which shall render action against the violators.
