Union Joint Secy MoRD reviews progress of Himayat scheme in JK

JAMMU, JANUARY 31: Joint Secretary Union Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Charanjeet Singh, today reviewed the implementation of the Himayat skill development programme in the North region of the country.

The states of the North Region comprising Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, and Rajasthan were represented by the respective Chief Operating Officers.

The Jammu and Kashmir State was represented by the Director Planning, Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Syed Shabir Shafi and Chief Operating Officer, Himayat, Kapil Sharma.

While reviewing the implementation of the Himayat scheme in J&K, Joint Secretary said, “A special focus should be given on imparting suitable and quality training among the youth.”

The Joint Secretary lauded the pace and progress in the implementation of Himayat scheme in the State. He stressed on creating large-scale awareness about the scheme not only among the youth but among their parents as well through IEC campaign.

Later, the Joint Secretary felicitated the youth who after completing their training under Himayat are placed in various companies and organizations.
