Police organises Ice Hockey Championship at Kargil

January 29: The inaugural ceremony of Jammu & Kashmir Police Sub-Junior Ice Hockey Championship was held at Ice Hockey Rink, Bemathang Kargil.

The 3-day tournament is being organized by District Police Kargil in collaboration with Kargil Ice and Snow Sports Club (KISSC).

The tournament is witnessing participation of four sub-junior teams hailing from different areas of District Kargil. The final match will be played on 30-01-2019.

The tournament was declared open by SP Kargil Dr Vinod Kumar-IPS, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion. People from all age groups turned up in large numbers braving bone-chilling cold to witness the event.

During the opening ceremony, SP Kargil said that aim of the tournament is to usher in healthy lifestyle in people and promote winter sports in Kargil. He further said that although Ice Hockey is lesser known in other parts of the country but it is most sought-after sport in Ladakh region.

On this occasion Sonam Chosjor ADC Kargil, Mujahid-ul Haq DySP Hqrs. Kargil, Amaan Ali Khan General Secretary KISSC,Insp Mohammad Nissar Coordinator and other officers/officials were also present.

District Police Kargil is organizing another Ice Hockey Tournament in Sub-division Drass after conclusion of this event.
