Chairman SPCB reviews progress of plantation drive at industrial estates of Jammu div

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 25: Chairman, J&K State Pollution Control Board, Ravi Kumar Kesar today chaired a meeting to review the progress of plantation drive in and around the industrial growth centres and industrial estates established in each district of Jammu division.

The meeting was attended by O. P. Sharma, Director State Forest Research Institute, Shally Ranjan, Regional Director, Pollution Control Board Jammu, J. N. Sharma, Environmental Engineer, SPCB and President/General Secretaries of the Industrial Growth Centres of Jammu, Samba, Bari Brahamana, Kathua, Udhampur, Birpur, Jeevan Nagar and President of Pesticide Association, Samba.

The Chairman emphasized the urgent need to plant more trees at the industrial centres to curb the pollution levels. He informed that State Forest Research Institute shall provide 25 different species of plants free of cost on the Republic Day.

The plants can be procured from the nurseries of SFRI from Sidhra, Jammu, Haria Chak, Hiranagar and other designated places.

Presidents of Industrial Associations assured Chairman SPCB of their full cooperation in the noble cause and said that they will plant maximum trees in the space available in their units.
