Shutdown continues in Shopian

Pulwama, Jan 24: A complete shutdown was observed for third straight day in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Thursday against the killings of six militants.

All shops, business establishments, government and private offices remained closed while public transport was off the roads.

On Tuesday, three militants were killed during a gunfight with government forces in Shirmal village of Shopian district.

The slain were identified as Shamsul-Haq, a resident Draggad; Amir Suhail Bhat, a resident of Shopian, and Shoaib Ahmad, a resident of Shirmal Shopian.

On Monday also, three militants were killed in a gunfight with forces in Hapatnar area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district. All the three slain militants belonged to south Kashmir areas.
