‘National Youth Day and Week’ concludes at B’la

Baramulla, Jan 22: To inspire youth for nation building and voluntarism, Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) District Baramulla under the aegis of Ministry of Youth Affairs, Government of India observed ‘National Youth Day and Week from 12th to 19th January in different blocks of the district with full enthusiasm and fervor.

The week long activities begin with National Youth Day observed on 12th January, the birthday of Swamy Vivekananda in which  the ideals and teachings of Swami Vivekananda was highlighted to inspire youth for nation building and infuse in them the spirit of youth as embodied in the life of Swami Vivekananda.

On January 13, a Cultural Day was organized in which various cultural programs by local artists and tradition folk shows were held with community singing and dramas besides exposure of different forms of village arts and crafts were made. On January 14th ‘Participation Day’ was held in which essay, painting competitions were conducted. On 15th January Social Service Day was observed, 16th January Physical Fitness Day was organized in which various sports events were held.

On 17th January Youth for Peace Day was observed with rallies and, lectures and seminars for promoting peace in the country. On 8th January a Skill Development Day was observed in which awareness generation about the viable schemes, programmes and opportunities for youth to get Skill Training for wage and self-employment was done.

The week long program National Youth Week  concluded on 19th January with Awareness Day on prevention of Substance Abuse, HIV/AIDS, Women Empowerment, Eradication of Social Evils or social & development related themes and prizes were distributed among the participants.
