Srinagar, Jan 22: All Parties Hurriyat Conference chairman, Syed Ali Geelani and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Chairman Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai have paid tributes to Budgam and Shopian slain militants and have reiterated that no force can undermine the ‘Kashmir struggle’.

In separate press releases, the leaders said that it was the ‘atrocious policies of India’ that were forcing youth to pick up arms in Kashmir. Such ‘brutal occupation tactics’ shall only intensify the struggle, the leaders maintained.

They also condemned the use of force against some journalists during the Shopian encounter that took place between forces and militants today and stated that such acts were aimed to threaten and intimidate the journalist community against covering the ground realties in Kashmir.

Castigating the ‘silence’ maintained by world human rights bodies as well as Arab countries, Sehrai stated that such institutions and countries must hang their Heads in Shame for failing the people of Kashmir.

Terming Kashmir as a ‘bone of contention’ between the two nuclear powers of the sub-continent, Hurriyat chairman regretted that the ‘stubborn’ attitude of India which was dealing with a genuine political issue only with militarily might had wrecked death and destruction and was also threatening peace and stability of the entire region.

Expressing serious over the Kashmiri prisoners in Indian jails, especially those lodged in Tihar, Geelani said that despite repeated reminders, the administration was totally blind and least bothered about the worsening condition of political prisoners. He demanded the release of the political prisoners and stated that the administration was even denying them (prisoners) proper health treatment from any hospital.
