Farooq Shah reviews progress on revival of irrigation projects in Doda, Rajouri

JAMMU, JANUARY 22: Secretary PHE and I&FC Farooq Ahmad Shah today chaired a meeting here to review the progress on the revival of Kastigarh and Kandi irrigation canals in Doda and Ans irrigation canal and Rajal Lift Irrigation canal in Rajouri district.

The meeting was apprised that revival of Kastigarh Canal in Doda will be completed at a cost of Rs 3.4 crore for which DPRs has already been prepared. The canal will benefit 720 hectares of land in 10 villages.

Shah was informed that 7 kilometres of Ans irrigation canal in Rajouri will be completed by October 2019 at a cost Rs 85.57 crore which will benefit 13 villages and 2000 hectares of land.

He was also informed that 1300-meter tunnel will also be constructed in the canal.

Threadbare discussion was held on Kandi canal Doda and Rajal Lift Irrigation canal Rajouri.

Shah directed the officers to gear up to complete the remaining works in canals immediately so that more people can be benefited.

He emphasized upon all the officers and engineers of the department to work with zeal and zest in order to ensure timely completion and revival of canals.

Secretary also directed the officials to maintain the irrigation canals besides taking effective measures to ensure better irrigation facilities to the farmers.

Chief Engineer I&FC Vinod Gupta Superintending Engineers, Ex Engineers, and other concerned were present in the meeting.
