 JAMMU, JANUARY 20: The 2nd Battalion of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) celebrated its 7th Annual Raising Day at Battalion Headquarters in Jammu.

SSP, Commandant of the Battalion (Bn) Rashmi Wazir inspected the Quarter Guard and took Salute of SDRF Parade Contingent.

Speaking on the occasion, the Commandant congratulated the officers and Jawans of the Battalion for 7th SDRF Raising Day.

She elaborated on the need and purpose for creation of SDRF Bns. to act as first responders of natural and man-made disasters. The Commandant further gave brief account of work done by the SDRF personnel in respect of conducting awareness camps in Govt and Private institutions, demonstrations and mock drill exercises of rescue operations during disasters, capacity building of SDRF personnel by conducting frequent in house training programmes at Bn. level and sending SDRF personnel to outdoor training centres in and outside the J&K state.

The Commandant also appreciated the role of SDRF personnel for their dedication and professionalism shown during various essential duties i.e. SANJY duty 2018, Machail Yatra duty, Navratra duty, Law & order & security duties.  She said, besides this, the SDRF personnel were deployed for Urban Local Bodies (ULB)/Panchayat Election duty and the Jawans have performed the duties that were appreciated by Police and Civil Administration.

A cultural programme was also organised on the occasion.

Vikas Gupta, SSP I/C DIG HG/CD & SDRF Jammu, Mohammad Shabir, SSP S.O(Adm) to Commandant General HG/CD & SDRF J&K, Dy. Controller CD Jammu and all GO’s of SDRF 2nd Bn. attended the function.
