Srinagar, Jan 17: Police on Thursday refuted the rumours that youth injured in Shopian last week has succumbed, saying the youth was alive and undergoing treatment at SKIMS Soura.

SSP Ganderbal, according to a police spokesman, said a news item was being circulated on social media about the death of Mohammad Rafiq of Nagbal, Ganderbal who was injured in Shopian.

“This misinformation has been disseminated by some miscreants to create law and order problem. It is clarified that said person is alive and undergoing treatment at SKIMS, Soura,” the senior officer said.

The SSP said the general public is requested not to pay heed to such rumours, adding “action will be taken against rumour mongers”.
