SRINAGAR, JANUARY 17: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan today chaired a high-level meeting to review   arrangements put in place for the celebration of coming Republic Day in the valley including Leh and Kargil districts.

The meeting was informed that the main function will be held at Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium Srinagar, where the Chief Guest will unfurl the National Flag and take salute at the march past.

Ten contingents of schools, Police, Army and other Belt forces, besides a band, will participate in March-past.

The Divisional Commissioner directed SMC to deploy men to clear snow manually at the venue and immediately conduct sanitation drive in and around it. Mechanical Engineering Departments were asked to keep their snow clearance machines in ready mode.

To reduce water-logging, SMC and Fire and Emergency departments were asked to deploy an adequate number of de-watering pumps at the venue in case of inclement weather.

For smooth movement of transport, Traffic department was directed to identify and provide adequate space for parking of vehicles around the venue for the convenience of the visitors.

PDD and PHE departments were directed to provide uninterrupted Power and water supply with back up facilities, besides the Health department was asked to put up   adequate number of medical camps at the venue with required staff, ambulances and Medicare facilities.

The provision for   seating as per protocol, Public Address System, holding of cultural programme, installation of CCTV cameras, illumination of govt buildings, barricading,   ceremonial jeeps, construction of dice, flower petals, Media Gallery, Joint Control Room, SRTC buses for transportation of employees and children besides deployment fire tenders at the venue was also finalized in the meeting.

All Deputy Commissioners (DCs) briefed the meeting regarding the hassle-free arrangements made by them for the smooth conduct of Republic Day celebrations in their respective districts   including Leh and Kargil.

The Div Com directed the Deputy Commissioners to involve sports and youth personalities on this national level function and organize Republic Day celebrations at Tehsil and Sub Divisional levels so that large chunks of locals are involved in the national day function.

The meeting took various decisions to add new features for the coming Republic day celebrations in the valley including Leh and Kargil.

The Divisional Commissioner also reviewed the arrangements put in place for “AT HOME” function at SKICC, Srinagar.

He called for close coordination among the concerned Departments for the smooth, more colourful, grand and peaceful conduct of the Republic Day celebrations across the valley.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar K. K. Sidha, Joint Director Information Mohammad Ashraf Hakak, Chief Engineers of  PDD, PHE, Director Education, Director SKIMS, Principal GMC, GM SRTC, SSP Traffic, SP Headquarters, Joint Commissioner SMC, Joint Director Youth Services and Sports, Joint Director Fire and Emergency Services, Deputy Director Health Services, Director Floriculture, Assistant Commissioner, RTO Kashmir, Superintending Engineers of R&B, Mechanical, officers from BSF, CRPF, ITBP & SSB, Cultural Academy, Govt Press and other concerned officers were present in the meeting, while as Deputy Commissioners of the Valley including Leh and Kargil  participated the meeting through video conferencing.
