SRINAGAR, JANUARY 16: Deputy Commissioner, Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Wednesday visited the Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium at Sonwar, the main venue of this year’s Republic Day celebrations in the district, and took stock of arrangements being put in place there.

The DC was briefed in detail about different kinds of arrangements being put in place at the venue including those of stage and seating, power and drinking water, and parking facilities in and around the venue for visitors.

He issued specific instructions to all concerned departments to ensure that all arrangements are made well in advance. He said the R&B and the PDD have particularly important roles to play in case of inclement weather and asked them to ensure all necessary arrangements are made for smooth conduct of the national function.

Dr Shah directed for close coordination between the concerned departments to ensure proper communication for smooth conduct of the function.

He also instructed the concerned departments to ensure thorough maintenance of cleanliness in and around the venue and proper parking facilities for all visitors.

The DC also enquired about participant rehearsals and instructed that all facilities including transportation, refreshments and accommodation be provided to the participants during the entire period of rehearsals.

Senior officers from all concerned departments accompanied the DC on the occasion.
