BANDIPORA, JANUARY 14: Deputy Commissioner Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary Monday held a public interaction program at Chittibanday village and listened to the public grievances.

He was accompanied by Superintendent of Police Sheikh Zulfikar Azad, district heads of various departments besides other concerned officials.

Several delegations and individuals called on the Deputy Commissioner and apprised him about various problems faced by them in their respective areas with regard to water and power supply, Irrigation, Healthcare, Education besides other issues.

Responding to the grievances of the people, Dr Choudhary sanctioned an amount of Rs 80 lakh for digging four bore wells and laying pipeline networks in Chittibanday and adjoining villages that will benefit a population of about 12000 souls.

He also directed to provide three transformers to the village to be installed at different locations besides up-gradation of one existing transformer to augment the power supply in the area.

Dr Choudhary also directed to provide medical facilities in the village and directed Chief Medical Officer Bandipora to start the PHC in rented accommodation and submit the feasibility report for further submission to the government.

He also directed ARTO Bandipora to formulate a plan to provide regular transport facility to Chittibanday, Aragam and Brar for the ease of public and students of the vast area.

Assistant Commissioner Development was directed to get Happat Nalla and Aragam Nalla surveyed through its engineering wing and take up the upgradation of these streams under ongoing programs available with the RDD.

The   Fire Service Department (Bandipora) was   directed conduct a survey to furnish a feasibility report for establishment of Fire Station in the Chattibanday area.

The Deputy Commissioner also directed to provide an electric motor for a lift irrigation scheme that irrigates the land of the village and has been lying defunct for want of an electric motor.

The Deputy Commissioner gave patient hearing to all the visiting delegations and individuals and passed on the spot directions for the early redressal of their grievances. He directed the officials to interact with the public regularly to listen to their grievances and seeking redress of the same.

Deputy Commissioner Bandipora informed the public that various developmental projects are under execution in the district that will provide job opportunities to the skilled youth.

He said the District administration is soon going to start IT operations by establishing Business Process Outsourcing (BPOs), Information Technology Enabled Services (ITES) in Bandipora district and the Expressions of Interest for entrepreneurs to establish these have been recently called. He said its establishment will provide job avenues to numerous skilled unemployed youth in the district.

He assured the people that sufficient funds are going to be released through Panchayats for the development of rural areas. He also assured that the pending flood relief shall be released immediately.

Dr Choudhary said that the aim of conducting this programme is to address public grievances at grassroots level and instead of public visiting Government offices, administration reaches out to the people at their doorstep to listen to their grievances.
